Specifically:
If the red "No Communication" dialog is horizontally aligned with an area where you want to place a die, it will not work. If I scroll to remove the aligned dialog or dismiss it, I can place the die. For me, on my MacBook laptiop, this most frequently happens when trying to place dice on the coffee/focus row.
